Anifilm, International Festival of Animated Films, this year for the first time in Liberec, is the most prestigious event of its kind in Central Europe. With 18 years of tradition, Anifilm is the only competition festival of its kind in the Czech Republic. Last year, the festival welcomed more than 30,000 visitors and screened over 500 films. Thanks to the structure of the festival’s competition and its long-term high quality, experts rank Anifilm among the most prestigious festivals in the world. Accompanying Film Programme Apart from the competition that brings the latest impulses from the world of animation to Liberec, the festival each year prepares a very rich accompanying film programme. It prepares special thematic showcases, retrospectives and innovative looks on archive heritage with focus on Czech animation. Professional Programme - Lectures, Presentations, Workshops An important and considerable part of the festival is our professional programme. Each year we offer professional lectures by historians, theorists and filmmakers connected to the festival theme and latest trends in animation. We use partly the classic lecture model, partly an established international forum (CEE Animation Forum – online this year) that also evaluates film projects and we also organize an animation job market (Animarket – in limited version this year focused on education). Accompanying Programme Exhibitions are apart from various installations a stable part of Anifilm. Game and VR Zone is a space for presenting and playing competition games and VR projects including VR films. Concerts of fresh Czech bands. Performances with and without screenings. Programme for little ones (free entry) Animo is a film programme for little ones and young adults prepared by our curators. It presents new and proven animated films from both the Czech Republic and abroad. Animation Workshops are popular schools – workshops – where you can try to various animation techniques to make your own animated film under the guidance of experienced animators. Theatre Performances little ones can look forward to theatre performances in the Lidové sady during five forenoons.
